Sappho's home was the city of Mytilene on the island of Lesbos. She was born of a noble family, she was the daughter of Skamandronymos and Kleis. Her husband was Kerhylas of Andros and she had a daughter named Kleis. She lived in the late seventh century and was exiled from Lesbos around 600 B.C..
